The following Hawke's Bay names appear 011 tho list of successful candidates iit tlie Royal College of Music examinations:—Pass: Dorothy Spinks Dorotbv Styles (botll taught by Miss E. Rogers), Grammar of music—Pass, _ Division I Veronica Matthews and Daisy Truman, both of the Convent, Hastings. Mr. Thomas Bain has for fivo years and ono mouth presided over the meetings of the Dannevirke High School Board of Governors, but feeling that tho position should not be monopolised, he at Wednesday's meeting declined renouiination. Since the inception of the school there have only bean three chairmen:—Mr. J. J. Patterson, Rev. A. Grant and Mr. Bain, who was elected to tbo position on February 2, 19U. Tbo roll numbor of' the school 'at that date was 95—51 boys and 44 girls—to-day it is 132. Mr. Bain lias been ono of the most ardent workers for the welfare of the school and lias never missed attending a meeting or conference which had for ils object the betterment of the buildings or grounds. Following arc the successful candidates in the examinations for teachers' certificates, held at Napier in Jflmiary:—Class D—Lilian Uediugflold, Victoria May Castle, Ena Corbet Biles, Mnriol Alice Finnis, Annie Louisa ,Jordan, -Margaret Alice Kin?. Lily Frances Jane Lee, Janet Elspeth M'Rao, Ida Ross, Gertrude Edna Sinclair, Frances Eileen Smith. Class C—Four subjects: Percy .Tallies Sefton. Three subjects: Edith Dorothy Brittain, Eileen Jessie Hortley, Daisy Ellen AVhyle. Class D—Partial pass—Sara Pamela Chambers, Lucy Alma Greg;, Olive Mario Hickling, Frances Violet cTorton, Adelaide Cora May Jennings, Gertrude Pimley, Doris Ailoen Priestley, Ellen Angelina Sartori, Duleic Maud Williams. Puss or partial pass in four groups—Mrs. Lilian Rachel Fletcher, llniu Adclina. Widerstrom. Pass or partial pass in : three groups—Eleanor A visa Atkinson, Mary Eileen Curran, Bossio Kathleen Driver, Doras Putnian Hartley, Frances Phoobo Holland, Edith May Meant.
