In explaining tho disabilities of seamen in connection with tho licensing poll in April, the secretary of tho local branch of the Seamen's Union states that until tho writ is issued no voting will bo allowed, consequently seamen could :.ot exercise their votes in tho present issuD as absent voters, as enrolment of voters closed before tho issue of tho writ, 'l'ho crew of tho Marama are' registered in New Zealand, but as the vessel has left tho Dominion they will bo deprived of the opportunity of recording their votes, ns 110 provision was made for them a« absent voters.
