Christchurch, March 6...: At th 6 Methodist.Conference to-<lay the R«- C. Eaton, convener of the Obiinexionat Sunday Schools'and Young pie's Committee, moved that the organ-> iser when appointed ehonld be instructed: to give close attention to the needs' of returned soldiers and keep in close tOUOtt , with - the Wellington Military. Committee, which should meet the expenses of that particular work. . Objection was taken'to the proposal tha,t money shouldi be taken for the scheme, from the Mili-' tnry Fund. ;P. Other mem-' hers said the organiser's efforts shoulfl not be diverted from Sunday 6chool*,,i The motion was lost. '•! The committee nominated the .Bevs. 0. H. Olds, E. P. Blamires, nnd F. T. Bead for the position of organiser. Mr. Blaraires said he wished to .withdraw his nomination, but the conference insisted on his name being retained. The ballot,' resulted :-Rev. C. H. Olds, 97- votesf Rev. E. P. Blmnires, 53; Rev. F. T. Read, ■ IG. Mr. Olds was declared elected, fe. Olds is chaplain to the forces/and ie in France at present. . The stipend of the organiser was fixed at JG2IS, house allowance at oGIOO, travelling expenses, .£BS; Connexional charges, X' 4. r i; sundries, J!45. The committee recommended that the organiser's- headquarters should be-in Christchurch. .V motion that Wellington should be the headquarters was lost, and Christchurch was selected..

Earwakcr; M'asterton (ICnripuni), one wanted; Otnki (I'araparaumu), W. .Alexander. The Rev. A. J. Seainer was appointed superintendent of Maori mission work for next year by 107 votes to the Rev. Blair's 37. The Rev. T. G. Hammond, tho present superintendent of Maori mission work, assured Mr. Seamer of his hearty support in his work, amongst tho Maoris, who ho said <is a whole were loval to the Church. ■ ••. ••■•.:-■..
The Rev. Joseph H. Simmond'-wns're-appointed principal of Weslejr.•Training College. Three 'Kings, for three'years. The home- mission and church, "extension fund showed a credit-balance" of JJSS3. The TlSv. Mr. Bond said that, everything considered, the statement was highly creditable.. The income of £UH •was a record one.
Tho board of Wesley Training College reported Hint the cost of the new buildings, with the nccss'ai'y roadrng, water simply, and drainage, was' estimated at •£lo,ooo'to .£II,OOO. Towards this amount the board had in hand onlv £1000. •
