DEMANDS BY REVOLUTIONARY RADICALS
THE GOVERNMENT'S REPLY. (Rec. March 6, 8.40 p.m.) London, March 5. A United Press message from Berlin reports that the revolutionary Radicals have presented the following demands to the German Government: I'irstly, the trial of the Hohenzollerns, von Ludendorff, von Hindenburg, and von Tirpitz by a People's Tribunal; Secondly" the immediate release of political prisoners; Thirdly, the disarmament of nil volunteer regiments and the strengthening of the "Red Guards; Fourthly, the establishment of a political and commercial alliance with the Russian Soviets. The Radicals declare that the .country is organised and ready to join the new revolution. The Government has answered demands by demobilising the Republican Guard? and the regulairs.-Aus.-N.Z. MINOR RIOTS. Copenhagen, March S. The troops and police patrolling the Berlin streets had minor riots.with the Spartacueians, who have seized twenty police stations. The Spartacusmns arrested Captain Hartung and Lieutenants Vogel and Liepmann, and charged them with causing the deaths of Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. Government troops occupied the offices of the Spartacist newspapers. Troops dispersed the crowd in the Alexanderplatz, and several ( were killed or wounded.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THREE DIVISIOnToTtROOPS CALLED JL QUESTION OF 'THEIR LOYALTY RAISED. (Rec, March 6, 8.40 p.m.) Copenhagen, March 4. \dvices from Berlin show that the Spartacist attack on the northern station was repulsed. The mobs stormed thirtytwo polico stations and plundered the jewellers' shops. Three divisions cf troops were summoned. These and other reinforcements are arriving hastily, nut the attitude ?bf the troops is uncertain. The naval division is openly hostile to tlio Government, which can count on the loyalty of only half the Berlin troops. The lival troops have seized the, artillery, depot at Spandalt, together with huge quantities of amis and ammunition upon which-the Spavtaciste had been relying. Disorders are general in many large cities, At 2eitz many people were killed during shooting in the streets. Bloodshed and looting are also reported from Magde-burg.-Reutef. 1,500,000 WORKERSJUT IN BERLIN ATTEMPT TO OVERTHROW GOVERNMENT. Amsterdam, March 5. One million and a half workers are on Strike in Berlin. The strike was pro-claimed-by the Workers' Councils, and ie an attempt by the extremists, including the Independent Socialists, to overthrow the Ebert-Scheidemann Government and tho National Assembly, with the watohword "Ite.ncw the battle for re-volution."-Au3.-N.Z. LATEST REPORTS GOVERNMENT CONFIDENT. (Rec. March G, BiO p.m.) Amsterdam, March i. The latest reports from Berlin indicate that the Government is confident that it will be able to control the situation. Many of the. factory workers havo refused to strike. Government troops aro pouring into the city, encountering only Blight resistance. They were only twenty victims in yesterday's rioting.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. HINDENBDRGWTBRYIEWED Berne, March i. A wireless message states that von Kinilenbnrg, interviewed by the "Biiyeriseher Kui'ier" (Munich), jiated that he was only retaining a position in the Army to help the country against anarchy during the transition from war to peace. Hii finds no satisfaction in the work, and intends to retire to seclusion at the earliest opportunity. He, retains his loyally to the monarchy and the Prussian regime, and does not sympathise with Hie present system, but he does not. anticipate, any counter-revolution. —A us.-N.is. Cable Assn.
