Knight gave away his, sister, who. wore a gown of white crope georgette and crepe-de-chine with silk embroideries and touches of pearl passementerie. Soldiers' Club Appeal. A meeting of the Ladies' Committee of the Returned Soldiers' Clnb appeal was hold in the .clnb'rooms yestordny afternoon. Mrs. Fireston presided, and there were present Mpsdnmes Murphy, Spottiswood, Button, Salek, J. Archibald, Darling, and Missep Krine (hon. treasurer), ■Stevens, and Cun-nn. A letter was received from Mrs. l'olter o-pjjrcttinp that as the Women's National He.wve had a meotiiifr of its '.own she. could jint- attend. Also, that Mrs. Gibbon?, who had been appointed to represent th" reserve, wns unavoidably delayed. Apologies for absence were 'nleo 'recoivd 'from Mrs. Dyer, Mrs. H. Hall, and Mivs. De Castro. Tiio first business beforo the committee was tho appointment of n new secretary, as Mis. Harper had to so away. It was proposed that Mrs. De Castro and

A note was read from Mr. Willces, assistant secretary to the appeal fund, asking ladies to sell tickets for .'the ericket match at the Basin-Reserve on Saturday between Veterans and Colts. Several of those present agreed to sell tho tickets to-day, and more volunteers are asked for. lickete and pxnjits may be had from the club rooms, L'nmbton Quay. It wns announced that a fireless cooker had been given to the General Committee by/Mrs. C. I{. Smith in aid of the fund. It was ngreed that the secretary of the fund should be asked to attend to the , permits, etc., with a view to mflling it if possible. It was resolved that all. members of the committee be asked to sell flags prior to the welcomo of the Horos'nta's men. There are a jrrfat many flaw at the Returned Soldiers' Club,.and people wishing flage are-asked to .purchase these, and as many de can do 60 to undertake to sell them. Mesdames Batten, Mrarphy, and Archibald were deputed to interview a meeting of girls that is being held to-day with a view to the' sale of flags.
