PROHIBITION RALLY
A meeting convened by the local Prohibition Party was held in St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, last night, The hall was well filled. The chairman, Mr. Hinton, Wellington organiser of the party, in his remarks stated that in tho purging of the rolls no difference had been made between votes for the different issues, nor had any soldier's name been knowingly challenged. He challenged investigation of the methods of tho alliance. The sneakers of the evening were Mr, F. C. Blake and Mt. L. Sim. returned soldiers. By illustration, quotation, and figures the speakers urged that drink was the accelerating factor in orijiie. and that from the moral, economic, and financial standpoints, prohibition of tho liquor traffic ivas essential to tho well-being of the country.
