The Mayor of Hastings (Mr. H. Lan Simson) will move the following motion at the next meeting of the Hastings Borough Council:—"That the Hastings Borough Council consider tne time has arrived when the Governor of the Dominion should be selected from the people of the Dominion) and that this council, in appreciation of the great and noble work done by Genoral Sir Andrew Ruesell in assisting to save the Empire, forward his name to tho proper authorities, recommending his appointment. Seeing that His Majosty the King, recognising General Russell's great courage and devotion to the Empire, has conferred distinguished honours upon him, that the people of New Zealand are anxious to bestow on him the highest honour in the country's gift, what greater honour from the King and people combinedi than tho Governorship of the country he has signally assisted to save for Empire; and further, that this resolution bo forwarded to all public todies in New Zealand asking for their support." A TOOTH TRAGEDY. Behind one of these pearly-white tettß of vours there is, maybe, some infinitesimal decay. But that pin-point will grow until one day—crack—a broken tooth— you find that your apparently sound tooth was a mere shell. Don't let yourself suffer any tooth tragedy. Visit W. P. Sommerville, "The Careful Dentist," Molesworth Street, for tooth inspection.— Advt.
