The annual New Zealand swimming championships for school boys and girls, also the intermediate for boys and girls under seventeen years of nge.'commcnced at the tepid baths to-day, when the heats of the 880 yds. intermediate championship were held. Kesults:—First heat: 11. Anderson (Wellington), 1; J. E. Low (Canterbury), 2; L. Fairgrav (Auckland*. 3. S. Hogg (Ilawke's Bay) also started. Won comfortably. Time, ltmin. i' 7 1-5 sec. Second heat: V. H. .Heed (Wangamii), I; H. von Stunner (Auckland), 2: H. Sutherland (Canterbury) also started, but withdrew early ,in the. race. Time, llmin. 49 2-sscc. The final will lie swum to-morrow night.
