CROWN PRINCE AND MODISTE
AN ENRAGED DUTCH CROWD. By mail further details have been re* ceived of an incident already reported by cable which nearly led to the ox-Crown Prince of Germany being, stoned by a Dutch crowd. The' Amsterdam "Tole» groaf" saysr : "On Wednesday, evening the. ex-Crown Prince stayed at the house of a certain G— with an Amsterdam' ■ 'lady,' who represented horself at Wieringen as a modiste. During that visit a crowd of villagers assembled before G—'s house, witnessing through the insufficiently dark_ ened windows a scene which modesty preserves from description. When tha Prince left the house the rage of ths crowd burst forth, and all.sorts of abuse were shouted at'him, while'some men, threatened to stone him. The Prince was only able to save himself by precipitate, flight. . "". .'■ "Some acquaintances of the Amsterdam lady,' who-" represented themselves a 9 detectives of the ■'Netherlands Union of Midnight Missions, arrived on the island the same day: They came, according to their own statement,..'to-look after the interests of the deserted woman with two children,' andone of them observed that car? must be taken that the Amsterdam woman was well paid.. "The police then intervened, and oni Thursday two police officials arrived at the Hotel de Haan, interviewed a German baron staying there, and subsequently the 'modiste.' On the following day they went to- the parsonage (the exCrown Prince's quarters), where they remained some hours, The result was that on Friday morning. the baron left by the mail steamer, while the 'modiste' left th« island in the afternoon. '
