A motor-cycle collision, unfortunately attended with serious results, occurred .in the Palmerston Square. Edward Nash, ilnxmill hand at Harris's mill, ivas proceeding on his motor-cycle, accompanied by a companion, in tho direction of the Commercial Hotel from tho post office, when a youth, Stanley Deadnall, also riding a motor-cycle, was coining from the Orand Hotel corner towards the railway line, with the intention of crossing the Square to the post office. He, however, did not take tjje turn wide enough, with the. result that the cycles •collided. Nash's machine hit Ueadnall's in the centre, aud threw the latter to the ground. Bendnall sustained serious injuries to the abdomen.'-' .Miss l'l. Dillens, 11. A., who formerly resided in Palmerston North, and who is at present on the staff of the New Plymouth Hoys' High School, has been appointed to the position, of assistant mistress of the Palmerston North High School. Miss Uillens was dux of the Palmerston High School when she was a pupil there, and was also a teacher at College Street School. Miss Uillens was on the staff of the Fcilding District High School for a year.
