DOMINION RIFLE ASSOCIATION

Supporters and lovers of rifle shooting throughout the Dominion will hail with delight the resurrection of the D.B.A. meeting to ho hold at Trentham on March 10 (writes Mr. W. B. Fellingham, secretarv of the N.Z.R.C.E.). Although the association has been lying dormant the last four years, this was owing to the war. This 'is the cause of "change of conditions" referred to in your issue of Thursday. The association fully, recognised that things are not yet normal, but whywait? In England, the Bisley rifle meeting will be held this year, so in the face of this fact vou cannot blame Colonel Collins and the New Zealand Rifle Clubs* Association for getting busy and pushing the meeting for all it is worth. Our entries this year are small, but we expect-' ed this owing to the fact that so many n'iflemen are still with the Expeditionary Forces serving abroad. Wo appeal to all riflemen in the Dominion to send along 1 their entries, and help to make this, meeting a success. Owing to rifles and' rifle barrels not being available in Australia and New Zealand, the Defence Department generously came to the assistance of the association for this u.ceting, with the loon of a new pattern 1914 rifle. This rifle is a flue weapon, and will be issued to competitors the day before the meeting opens for practice* Competitors will have to provide their own rifle slii gs. These rifle meetings will in the rear future bo recognised by the Government, Defence, and general public, and will be held in the principal group centres for the encouragement and assisting in the carrying out of our future defence, thus making' rifle-shooting the national sport of this Dominion. Riflemcu are well catered for at' the forthcoming meeting. The camp arrangements are in the capable hands of Major M'Cristall. The association appreciate the valuable assistance rendered to the meeting by Major-General Sir Alfred Robin and his staff.
