NEW ISSUE POSTPONED. : ;|Hie' Minister- 'of Finance announced ■ tome time ago that in all. probability the million war loan .would bo floated in " New Zealand' about April'next. -In an- . swer to a question'put. by.'a Dominion reporter yesterday, the .Acting-Minister of Finance (the Hon. Arthur Myers) ■ stated that owing to the .fact that there was a steady flow of subscriptions into the Treasury, : it would not be necessary to float the loan in April as anticipated. Probably the loan could•be' deferred' for a few months. ' y ' Although, of course, the Defence war expenditure was :i diminishing 1 figure,, there was still a largo amount to'be pro-\ jvided by the Government, both directly • arid indirectly,, for. repatriation, purchase . of land for soldiers, .advances for.businesses, and homes, etc. -"As'previously: indicated," said4he Minister, sury.will receive subscriptions to . the 'War Loan, the/investment in' which is. '..second- only in importance;to having actually participated in.the great struggle. I feel, assured that 'the people of the Dominion will to the occasion again' . as they, have done in connection with previous loans.- In any case, the com- '. pulsory clauses under,.the (Finance Act, 1918, are • operative, , ensuring the necessary subscriptions'. being forthcoming." Continuing, Mr. Myers stated that'the loan was a good investment, as while New Zealand was a sound concorn before' . . . the war, it was safer now that Victory had been achieved and Prussianism van«mißhpd Ipr ever.'
