•Sir,—Rev. Dr. Gibbis busy- with Church union, and displaying: energy. I- agree that there is much room for improvement in Church methods of working, particularly as. regards overlapping in some country districts,- but I am not so sure that ufiion. is going to produce any great change in the hearts and lives of the people. Is there any guarantee that there will be a .deper spiritual life among .Churchmen? The union of Methodists has not produced it so far as lam aware. There was more piousness, more devotedness. when each were on their'own.'■Moreover, a man may be at present a' good Methodist, but under a bad Presbyterian. The officials union " ' Presbyterian. The officials of the' respective I denominations concerned need to consider tho matter seriouslv from different aspeots.—l am, etc., " ' - " ' ,T.O.
