There lias been la, good spell of harvest weather, and stacking slid thrashing are being pushed in North Canterbury, and the' offerings of grain arc increasing. 1 The oats crops on tlio heavier land aro turning out'exceptionally well, and with reports of better results than expected in Southland the oats market ,is showing a weaker tenidency. ' Some buyers have made decided reductions in their limits for future transactions, but others do not yet quote. The market is appreciably lower. 1 The general run of prices is 45.-(!d. : to is. Bd. per' bushel at country stations, but prime heavy Gartons are worth more.- Oatsheaf chaff is easier, and is now quoted at .£5 to Jib ss. per ton at country stations, There is not much .Capo barley offering,, but it-is said to be worth'4s. to fs. ,'Jd. per bushel at country stations. Cocksfoot is now offering freely, and the quantity coming forward from Peninsula growers is much larger than during the. last year, or two. Prices are rising, and are i'rom 9d. to Is. per lb.' Now that there is no shipping of potatoes allowed and supplies aro plentiful in the North Island the local market has eased, and quotations are ,£5 to <£5 10s. per ton ior April and JJay delivery, Onions L-avo .advanced to .C 5 per ton, principally in j view of the. riso in Sydney,' to which j market shipments may be made.
