WELLINGTON LAW SOCIETY
Mr, P. levi presided at the annual meeting of the Wellington Lair Society held on Monday evening, when matters of general interest to the profession were discussed. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year :-President, Mr. P. Levi; vice-president, Mr. E. P. Bunny; hon. treasurer, Mr. H. F. O'Lcary; • council,- Messrs. 0. , N. Beere, A. Yw Blair, P. S. K. Macassey, M. F. Luckie, H. E. Anderson, and Sir John Findlay, K.C.; hon. auditor, Mr. W. P. Ward; council of law reporting, the Hon. Sir Francis Bell, K.C., and Mr. C. H. . Treadwell (re-elected); members of the .- council of the New Zealand La-w Society, Messrs. P. Levi, A. Gray, K.C., and C. OH. Treadwell. • ■ The following resolutions were carried: "That this meeting records an emphatic Protest against the'lmsty passage through nrliament of important legislation without proper and adequate consideration." "That this meeting also protests against the delay in the publication of statutes, and suggest that no alteration in the law, except in matters of urgent necessity, should be brought into operation until a reasonable time after the posing of the Act. affecting such legislation." ' . Copies of the . foregoing resolutions were ordered to be forwarded to the 1 Prime Minister and the AttorneyGeneral. ■ ■ • ■
