A meeting of the Petone- branch of the St. John Ambulance Red Cross Society was held in.the Municipal Building last evening. Mrs. Galvin presided. The report of the Red Cross Shop showed that the shop had been in existence for two years and nine months. The takings 'for that period were .£2233 4s. 7d., and the expenses were only £H 103. 9d. The amount remitted to. the Wellington denot was i 2229 -I*. Gd. hi addition to this amount tlie society also raised .i'2l K Gd. (o assist the local effort of the Y.M.C.A. Comniittc and the copper trail. The Cooper Trail Committee also had two days' sales at the shop. The committee acknowledged with thanks tiic various bodies of helpers who'iad supported and worked for the cause. Mrs. Bennett, stated that the report reflected preat credit on Urn neonle of Petone. They had taken.,the idea up wholeheartedly. The secretary (Miss Beyiion) was accorded a hearty vot« of thanks for her, services.
