MR. SEMPLE AND HIS CRITICS
THAT CHRISTCHURCH SPEECH. By Telegraph.—Fress Association. Greymouth, February 25. Mr. R. Sempls, M.P., is on a visit to the West Coast. He was interviewed, and replied to criticism as to his Christ-, chwrch speech, especially relative to the Hon. W. Earnshaw'e remarks. Mr. Semple said that Mr. Earnsliaw Miild not speak for Labour, being a righthand supporter of the Rev. Howard Elliott. Referring to the attitude taken by Presbyterian ministers, lie mid that from, gentlemen who professed to be ambassadors of a just God, fairer treatment was expected. Regarding Russian cable, messages, they were a mass of contradiction, and it was a negation of human justice to judge individuals or a nation by them. The nationalisation of women was the blackest lie cabled to any country. He regarded the condemnation of him by the Press and Tory and Liberal politicians ns> empty and hysterical. Mr. Semple will hold a meeting in the Coleseum on Sunday night, and it is exnected to he Hie largest meeting held in tlie history of Cliristchurch. Hβ will leave it to the audience to cast judgment.
