In order to draw still closer the connection which has existed for many years between the National Bank of New Zealand, Limited, and Lloyds. Bank, Limited, as their London bankers, the latter have arranged to subscribe for 50, CM shareß, part of a new issue of 100,000 shares which will shortly be made by the former institution. At the same time one of the directors of Lloyds Bank, Limited, will join the board of the National Bank of New
Zealand, Limited. This will not, however, involve any change in the management of that bank, -which will continue as heretofore. The completion of the new issuo will bring the subscribed cnpital of the National Bank' of New Zealand, Limited, up to £1,003,000, and its published reservo fund up to the same amount.
METIiOPOWTAN BUILDING SOCIETY. Tho twenty-eighth annual report of the Metropolitan Permanent JJuildiug and Investment Society recommends tliat tho usual distribution of profits at tho rate of 7 per cent, per annum be made, and that a further sum of £1000 be adSed to the reserve fund, which will then Bt-and at £14,000. During the year the directors invested £ICCO in New Zealand Government War Bonds. The profits for the year (including a balance of £670 10s, sd. brought forward from last year) amount to £5837 ss.' 9d.; less expenses account, -£705 7d.; leaving a not profit of £5131 9s. 2d.; less interim dividend for six months ending August, 1918, £1050: leaving a balance of £4081 9s. 2d., which it is proposed to appropriate as follows:—To credit holders "B" investment shares at 7 per cent., for twelve months ending February 15, 1919, £1101 2s. 3d.; to payment of dividend at l\ per cent, for six months ending February 15. 1919, to holders of "A" £10 shares. £1050; to reserve fund, £1000; total, £3151 2s. 2d.; to carry forward to next year, £930 6s!
