A programme of indoor games was carried out, and, songs and recitations were contributed by the Bintoul Street Church of Christ, Endeavour., 'Duets were sung by Misses It. and A. Patchings, and Miss 0. Pringle sang several songs, and ,a recitation was given by Miss Gubbins. Light sypper was served, and cheers from the sailors for. their entertainers and the singing of "Aiud Lang .Syne" brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. $ short gospel address was delivered by the president, of the local branch before the qoiupany dispersed. For tho benefit of those sailors desiring to spend their evening in a quieter way the rooms in Post Office Square were kept open as usual. On Sunday night a number of sailors accepted an invitation to the 5 o'clock held in tho Naval Boating Club Hall, and a bright gospel and song service was afterwards held, in which the sailors were much interested.
Those young vocalists who are in Wellington for the competitions should make a point of hearing Mdlle. Dolores. It would be worth many lessons to them in enunciation and phrasing, and in tho artistry of singing generally.
