FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BOARD

OPERATIONS NOW DECLINING,

The work of the Soldiers' Financial Assistance Board is now declining, m consequence of the cessation of recruiting and the discharge of men. A report submitted by the board to the Minister of Defence states that the new applications received during January numbered 100. The grants completed and approved during the month .totalled 972. "Presenting an annual expenditure of X 19,694 17s. 3d. They included 233 additional grants, amounting to ,£3446 3s ; 10d. Warrants issued during the month were 4287 for a total of ,£11,209 4s. 10(1., for the following kinds of help:— <£ S. a. Vortt 4765 U 11 Interest : « \ :::::::::::::::::::: SS!
