SHIPPING POSITION
EXPORT TONNAGE AVAILABLE. - Following is a copv of a oircula? (dated February 21), which, has been for* worded by the Overseas Shipowners' Committee to all the freezing companies, in Now Zealand-.— Owing to delays in the United Kingdom, insulated. 6teamers are coming forward later than was expected, and it is considered advisable to acquaint freezing companies with the position as it at present appears. After the recent allotment of February and early March steamers, the following steamers represent the earliest measure of relief. They will-be available for Homeward loading as 6tated in parentheses:—Port Melbourne (middle of March). Hororata (late March), Ajaua (first half of April), Athenic (first half of April), Eimutcka (second half of April). No advice has yet been received of the sailing of the following steamers which have been listed for Homeward loading from New Zealand:—Corinthic, Armagh, Raranga, Kaikoura, lonic, Tainui. It is probable that the majority will not be available for Homeward loading before the end of April or during May. Deductions from insulated space will, of course, have to be made for the necessary quantity of dairy produce .required by the Imperial authorities. Efforts have been made by this committee to secure additional prompt tonnage for New Zealand, but the reply to hand indicated that the allotment _of tonnage has been made in conjunction with the Board of Trade, Ministry of Shipping, and the Food Controller, and couid not be increased.
