PRICES OF THE TREASURY'S STOCKS. (Eec. February 23, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 20. In response to an 'insistent public demand the Government has appointed a committee to consider the prices at which the Treasury's vast stocks of food shall be sold, the Chancellor permitting sales below the purchased prices.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. SEDUCTION IN MEAT PEICES. (Kec. February 23, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 20. The Food Controller will reduce - the price of meat 2d. per lb. all round on March 1. The Controller states that he is prepared to remove from control any particular article of food when the supplies thereof are abundant, and trust to competition to reduce the cost of distribution to the lowest possjble point— Aub.-N.-Z. Cable Afisn.-Eeuter. A MELBOURNE TRAGEDY DOUBLE MURDER AND SUICIDE. (Eeo. February 23, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, February 23. A sensational tragedy occurred in a boarding house in Albert Park. Leslie Wilson, a returned officer, visited the house where his wife and daughter had been staying for two years, and ran amuck. Firing a revolver, he shot the landlady's husband and killed his daughter. Wilson then committed suicide. His wife escaped—Press Assn. A TOOTH TRAGEDY.
