THE DRIVERS' DISPUTE
DETAILS OF NEW AGREEMENT. TO APPLY TO THE WHOLE DOMINION The following are the principal provi« sions of the Drivers' Agreement, made in Auckland, and which will apply to the whole of the Dominion:— Hours of Work. Forty-eight hours per week, exclusive of time required for necessary attendance to horses and motor vehicles. Wages. One horse, drivers, £3 6s. per week* two-horse drivers, .£3 Bs. 6d. per week; motor vehicle drivers, scwt. to 1 ton .£3 9s. per week, 1 ton to 2 tons £3 lis. 6d., 2 to 3 tons £3 Us. per week, over three tons .£3 17s. 6d.'per week. Stable Work and Attendance to Motor Vehicles. Up to four hours per week for onehorse drivers and eight hours per week for two-horse drivers to be paid for at the rate of Is. iIA. per hour. Motor vehicle drivers, up to four [ hours per week, Is. 5Jd. per hour. All ; such work in excess of these hours to be paid for at ordinary overtime rates, j Youths may be employed at stable ' work at Is. per hour. Horse Drivers, f Casual drivers, Is. Cd. per hour for - one-horse; Is. Bd. per hour for two or ■ more horses overtime, Is. IOJd. and 2s. Id. - per hour respectively. * Motor Vehicle Drivers. scwt. to 2 tons, Is. Bd. per hour; over 2 tons, Is. lOd. per hour; overtime, Is. lOd. and 2s. per hour. Youths. 18 to 19 years of age, J31165. per week; 19 to 20 years of age, £2 2s, per week; 20 to 21 years of age, £2 10s. per week'; il overtime, Is. 3d. per hour. Overtime (Horse Drivers). * Up to 10 p.m., Is. 9d. per hour; 10 15 p.m. to 6 a.m., 2s 3d. per hour; with a
minimum of two hours' pay when ordered back after tea; overtime rates to ba paid for ,work done after 1 p.m. on day of usual weekly half-holiday. The award comes into operation on March 1, and is to have a currency of two years. A provision has been made regarding the hoars to be worked by drivers employed at aerated water factories. The old award provided for forty-eight hours per week from April to October,' and sixty hours per week for the rest of the year. The new hours will be U during the winter months and fifty-two during the summer months. A provision is made that in the case of drivers employed for the summer months only overtime shall be paid after forty-eight hours have been worked. The old rates were as follow:—Driv« ! erf of one horse, £i 18s.; driver of two • horses, ,£3 25.; drivers of, motor lorries, • £3 to £3 Cs.
