The agreement arrived at in the drivers' dispute, .which applies to the whole Dominion, comes into force on Marclv 1 , and runs,till February 28, I®. The, agreement will be adopted by all the Conciliation Councils throughout the Dominion, subject to minor alterations to suit varying local conditions. The council authorised • tlic Commissioner to forward the following remits to the Conciliation Commissioners in tho other parts 'of. New Zealand: "That this Dominion Concilation Council has agreed i to strike out all meat works and freezing-works from the list of parties cited in the drivers' dispute, the unions reserving to themselves the right to apply to the Arbitration Court to have them added as parties to the award at a later date"; also "That the following holidays lie recog- ■ nised throughout the Dominion: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Christmas Day', Sovereign's Birthday, arid Boxing Day. tho, rcmnining three holidays .to be fixed and agreed upon according to the requirements of the - local centres and to be decided upon by the local Conciliation Councils in the dir- ' ferent industrial districts." Warm'tributes were paid to Mr. Harle Giles by all the delegates present for h: handling of tho dispute.
