THE MISSING HANDA ISLE
CHARRED 'WRECKAGE FOUND.
The New South Wales Navigation Department received advice a few dajs ago from the'.police-station at Huskisson stating that a ship's most, believed to ba from the missing schooner Handa Isle, is lying on the beach at a spot locally known as Chinaman's Beach on the foreshores of ,Tervis Bay.
Tho piece of timber is of kauri pine, 19ft. in length (lift, below deck -and Bft above), and siin. in girth. The mast is burned through at the top, and broken off: at the bottom end, which is encircled by an iron band. A epider hoop-iron band, with six eyes, is also made fast with a six-inch bolt at about 12ft. from tho first band,
Tho greater portion of the mast had been painted white, and the remainder red, and it had apparently been in the water for several months.
Shipwrights, fishermen, and others who have inspected tho wreckage express tho opinion that it is portion of the missing schooner Handa Isle, also that a fire must have taken plate on board.
