By tho 0. and-D.-linei-Port'■ Augusta, there arrive'd in Sydney on .February 6 tho captain and crew of tho American four-maeted barquentine St. James, which was.lost in the Pacific Ocean.' The St. James, whioh was formerly a barque, left Vancouver on October 6 last.-with a. full cargo of timber for Durban. AH went well until at 4 o'clock one morning, when tho vessol touched on a reef noar Oeno. Island, which is.-UO. miles-north by west of Pitoairn Island. ' The St. James soon settled down on the reef, and was expected to .become a total -wreck. Tho crew decided to make for. Pitcairn Island, which was accordingly' done.' After being on Pitcairn Island for some days a'schooner called tb,e Messenger: was chartered to proceed to tip,scone..of the wreck, and upon arrival 'a'' quantity of the vessel's Btoree was salvaged.
