INTERCOLONIAL FERRY
THE RISE IN TARES AND FREIGHTS In reference to the announcement made by the Huddart-Parker Co., Ltd., in regard to the increase in freights and fares in the intercolonial ferry service, the manager of the local office of the Union Steam Ship Company (Mr. W. A. Kennedy) stated to a Dominion' reporter on Saturday that the head office of the Union Company had approved of similar increases. As pointed out in Saturday's issue of The Dominion, these increases will cover all quarantine charges for passengers on arrival in Australia or New Zealand. With, the increase, the present freight rate, which came into operation on Saturday, is 355. per ton. r ihe passage money between the Commonwealth and the Dominion has been increased by 4-2s. in the saloon and 21s. in the steerage. These rates will not affect the Moeraki, which sails for Sydney on Tuesday, but will come into operation immediately following the departure of that vessel.. Single fares to Sydney will now . be:—Saloon, .£9 17s. and steerage, £b lis.
