The Kittawa, which left Muff on February 11, had on board 60 tons of cargo for AYellington, aud as tho vessel has sinco been diverted to Lyttolton, this cargo has been transhipped, and will arrive any time now.

Plans of a 5000-ton all-wood steamer to take the place of the 3500-tons Ferris type of wooden ship which has proved too small for the Government requirements, havo' been approved of by the American Bureau of Shipping, and it is stated over there that, the new design only' -needs the approval of Lloyd's Register before being ordered as a,'standard type of vesBel for the Shipping Board. The dimensions of tho new vessel are: 334 ft. sin. long, 48ft. beam, with a moulded depth of 34ft. This ifl-an exclusive Columbia River design, planned by the Government naval architects in co-operation with the heads of various wooden ship plants in the district.
