GRANTS. OF TEMPORARY RANK

NEW APPOINTMENTS

The following appointments and grants tof.temporary rank to officers of the NewZealand Staff Corps,' New Zealand Permanent Staff and Territorial Force are announced:—

Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel Murray Menzies • Gard'ner, D.5.0., p.s.c.g,, Royal New Zealand Artillery, is temporarily appointed director of artillery (field). .... ...;... Captain (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel) 'Alexander Fowler Roberts, 0.8. E., N.Z. Field Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of director of artillery, (field). Major Charles Erie Andrews, N.Z.-Staff Corps, Assistant-Adjutarit-General, is temporarily authorised to exercise the powers of Adjutant-General in the absence of Colonel Robert Ward Tate, C.8.E., on duty in Samoa.

Hon. Captain and Quartermaster (temporary) George. Albert Gibbs (R.A.M.C.), attached to N.Z. Staff Corps, .is granted the temporary rank of major whilst holding the appointment of Deputy-As-sistant Director of Medical Services. (Dated December 1, 1918.) ; Hon. Lieutenant (temporary) Ernest James' Browning, N.Z. Permanent Staff, is granted the • temporary rank'of captain whilst holding the appointment. of Assistant - Adjutant - General, Auckland Military District.

Lieutenant (temporary) John Edward Packman, N.Z. Permanent Staff, • is granted the temporary -rank'' of captain whilst holding the appointment of A.D.S. and T„ Wellington 'Military District., Lieutenant (temporary) Henry William Johnson, U.L. (b), General List,. is granted the temporary rank of captain whilst employed as sanitary inspector, Fcatherston Camp." Lieutenant (temporary) Henry William Johnson, U.L. (b), General List, relinquishes his appointment as sanitary inspector, Featherston Camp, on January 13. 1919, and is attached to the branch of the A.D.M.S. (San.), General, Headquarters,, retaining the temporary rank of captain whilst so employed. 2nd Lieutenant John Spearman d'Hauteville Birkby, N.Z.R.8., Territorial unit, was appointed adjutant, Narrow Neck Camp, on September 16, 1918, end is granted the, temporary rank of lieutenant whilst so' employed. Lieutenant Ernest John' Brammall, U.L. (b.), was- appointed officer i/c Sick and Wounded Records, Canterbury Military District,, on May 4, 1918/ and is granted the temporary rank of captain whilst so employed., Lieutenant (temporary) Claude Charles Brinsley, U.L.' '(b), General. List, -is granted the temporary rank of captain whilst, holding the "appointment of officer in charge Sick and Wounded Records.' Wellington Military District. Hon. Lieutenant -< (temporary)- Joseph Hadfield AVestlcy Shoppard, U.L. (b), .General List (attached N.Z.A.P.D.), is granted the honorary rank of captain temporarily whilst employed in the War Expenses Branch, General Headquarters.

2nd Lieutenant (temp,) Robert Norbury, U.L. (b), : General' List- is granted the temporary rank of lieutenant whilst holding the appointment of electrician in charge in the branch of the' Director of Railways- 1 and Works, '
