Mr. Mayer, said that tho certificates cost next to nothing. A half-crown would, cover the cost of them. ■ If they had to pay entrance fees, he thought that -the clubs whose representatives were engaged in •these games ■should pay.- Mr. Mayer said tliathe would give notice of motion providing for entrance fees • to be rescinded.-. •••' ''- ~ • ,'■' v. There was-a long discussion on tne point of morning and afternoon tea being irovide'd for players in. championship matches, raised by Mr. J. Muir. lie did not see why individual players should have to pay for their refreshments. IHe centre snould pay. . , A motion that afternoon: tea tickets be provided for the players was negatived, «nd it was decided, on.tho motion of Mr, W. H. Morrah, that each of the clubs concerned \k asked 'to' provide afternoon tea for the players. _J ■'• \.~ letter was' received from the JNelson and Marlborbugh Centre notifying that'eight, and perhaps ten, rinks would visit, Wellington on February 21 and 22.. There would be-rinks from the Nelson, •Blenheim, Maitai; Wakefield, Eiveredale, mid Pitton Clubs.-As there ; was _not fiufficient data before the meeting Mr. Keith moved that the question stand adjourned until next Tuesday. The motion was 'negatived. A sub-committee was set up to , riiake arrangements to entertain the-visitors. ; ■ Mr.. T: Gray,. the..centre s -representative at the Dominion Bowling Associa- ■ lion's, conference, .reported that ho had been'pleased to do what he could on behalf of the centre. The chief business was the-consideration of the constitution of the council of the association. He was- surprised to find that only two'centres had ■ sur-pusly considered Mr. A len'e suggestion altering the constitution to direct representation of centres. He •.took the matter in hand, and urged tho change, and was--strongly supported by •Mr- K. J. -Collins -and Professor Max■weH''Walkers- It- was very late in the -evening When-the .matter was discussed. :He found ■that.tlioiißh Mr, Allen (of Dimeilin) was' preseiit, he was not suppprted by th? Otago .Council, The proposal was carried, but that only meant that it was a recommendation to • the council.- It .was thought that the election should be held during the Dominion .tournament, when .both large and small centres would be represented. On the question'of .uniformityof-the conduct of an examination of the programmes showed that the tourna- ' inents' were 'conducted on various lines. The' arrangements- respecting refreshments, he. considered, were far. from satisfactory in-Auckland, nnd the managemont was bad .in.other ways. . When ■lie raised the point about. refreshnieiits ; the president said that the tournament was being run for patriotic purposes, and he had .'pointed out'that the AVellingtoTi and Dunedin tournaments were run for patriotic purposes, but' lie did not press the point., The (feeling of delegates seemed to be against a standardised programme for. nil.: "Dominion tournaments. Ho did'not. think they would do much in. tho direction of effecting improvements in the conduct.of tho tournament? until some new "blood was infused into'tlie council. Ho also said that the conference decided to invite a visit from English bowlers." -. On tho motion of Mr. Keith, seconded by Mr. S. H. "Underwood, a hearty' vote of thanks was tendered to Mr. Gray.-for his report. ■ The , mover said ■that the fact that-Hie centre's representative had carried his main point, ehowed that the .others would follow in duo course. \ . •■A WEST.-COAST..'TOURNAMENT. . . .-.''. ny-Teießrnph— Press Association. :-■ ■ :!
