BOOM IN SOUTH TARANAKI
A PROSPEROUS SEASON. By Telegraph— Special Correspondent. Patea, February 8. South Taranaki is enjoying a phenomenally prosperous season, and in both the dairy,: and frozen meat trade big figures are being compiled. According to the official statistics the value of the choose c-xiKirted from Patea for the twelve months ending November 30 last was .£1,240,318. In regard to tho freezing works more stock is being offered than can l>o dealt with. Tho new storage accommodation is .Hearing completion, and will provide storage for an additional 44,000 0r.4.),000 carcasses, thus giving the works a total storage capacity of 150,000 carcasses. Some five or six years ago there was storage accommodation for only 15,000 carcasses. The development during the war priod has been remarkable, and with its dairying, meat export, and ironsand industries, South Tarnnaki. has tremendous possibilities. •
