' It will, as usual, be limited to the eight strongest players available, viz., Messrs. Anderson (present champion), Purolms (ex-eliam-pion), Welton, Harper, A, Chirk,'. If. J. Thompson, Berry, and S.. Fanlknnr. A hard-fought contest may be looked for 'as ,the. competitors are a very even lot. and no fewer than five of them have; taken first'prize in the club's nnnual hinidieap tourney, viz., \Wllon /19flfi), H. ,T. Thompson (1313). A.. f'larlf (19ir.), : 1). Purc.has /I!Mfi), and G. ?. Anderson (1017 and 19181 "New blood" is supplied by (lie entrv of Mr. Fanlknor, who is a member of all three local clubs. The club is adding a .new feature this year. viz.. a minor tourney, for which nine entries have been received. The winuor of the minor contest- is to play Hie lowest scorer in the championship tourney, the committee, bavin? decided to rearrange the ladder from the rc.sulls of the two contests. The Ngaio Club. The Ngaio fHub's summer rceesH has ended, and wepkly meetings have been resumed. The prizes won in last vear's handicap tourney are' to. be presented next Monday as follow:—First prize, H. J. .Tjimes; second and third prizes divided by Messrs. A..73. Top'p and .T. Lindsay, who ti«l for second place. The secondKrade prizes, were won ns follow.—First, NTr. S. Weslbrnoke: second, Mr. A.
