YACHTING
« A committee meeting of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club was held oil Thursday night. Christmas greetings from Lieutenant J. A. Ilardv, of the 11.M.5. Victory, somewhere in the North Senj wero received. It was decided that the general handicap nice which was held oil the afternoon of Anniversary Day will_ be retailed. The ladies' race to-day is creating a great deal of interest. The course will be from Clyde Quay Wharf round Jorliingham buoy, the most eastern buoy oil' Pipitea Point, back to a mark-boat at Clydo Quay, then In Ihe .reriiinghani buoy back to, the finisliing-line at Clyde Quay. SomS of the lady members' of the club are skilled hclniswomen, and a very interesting race is expected. Arrangements wero completed for the holding of the ocean race to Port "Underwood and back. This nice will be held on February 15, and there will be a Hying sltirt at 2 p.m. from Clyde Quay Wharf. The limes of arrival at Ihe mark-boat at Port Underwood will l« taken, and the yachts will unehnr. AI. eight next morning a flying start will be made from Port Underwood,' and the times will be adjusted upon the arrival of the yachts in Wellington. In (he case of auxiliary yachts, ail engines must be sealed, Tho inter-club loco will be held on Febl'uary 22, and the club will entertain I lie competing yacht crews and their friends. Afternoon tea will be served upon conclusion of the race, and a smoke concert will bo held in the evening. The club picnic has been fixed for .March 'J.
