PEACE CELEBRATIONS

PORT NICHOLSON YACHT'CLIIB. Sir,—ln your report of arrangements proposed to be made in .celebration of Peace Day you mentioned.that a suggestion was made that the. Port Nicholson Yacht Club might co-operate in malting a display at Oriental Bay. The ctub : had, proposed to liold some denionstta- - tions upon their own account, but we wish.to state that the club will be most happy to . co-operate to every extent In its power to inßko tho general celebration worthy of the great event. So far the club has not been invited to send a representative to consult with those arranging the demonstrations, nevertheless the heartiest support and willing work by 1 the committee and members of the club ma'y confidently be counted upon.—Wo are, etc., rOKT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB (W. Duncan, Commodore). : February 7. ' MOTORS FOR RETURNING MEN THE OVERLOADING TROUBLE.; Sjr,—l sec in your report of the metting of the Voluntary Jlotor Corps ynu state that one speaker said that "the cars are likelyito be damaged by overloading." Now I know for a fact that very many have been seriously injured; by this same overloading. I don't think that "the boys" and the public generally quite understand that tho inembers:of this corps give their time and fell's, etc., free, and are only too glad to do so: tut tiicy do ask in return that they s'hotild not be expected to overload and overstrain the'carsj and I would appeal to tho relatives of t.hew returning men not to put the car-owners in tho most uncomfortable position of having to refuse fo take them.—l am. etc., E. MARY CORNISH. . February 7.
