Cable As.sn.' INCIDENT AT A FUNERAL. London, February 5. The arrival of Lord P.irrie (chairman of Harland and Wolff's) at the funeral of Mr. Cumming, one of the directors of Harland and Wolff's,' produced an optimistic impression that a settlement was imminent, although tlite striko leaders declare it can only be settled on' the basis of the forty-four hour week. The so-called Labour Parliament continues to conduct the striko with a complete absence of disorder. ■ There was a remarkable incident when Mr. CummingV funeral was passing a great open demonstration. ' The speeches were discontinued, and tl\e crowd removed their hafs and lined the roads in silence. Lord Pirrie will receive a strikers' deputation on Wednesday. Glasgow is quiet.
