Official intimation has been given that the Martin Memorial Fund has now been closed, the accounts duly 'audited, and the balance of money in hand paid to the credit of the Palmerston North Hospital Board. The total amour.t received from donations was i:2O4S lis. 8d„ and the greater portion of this having been piacod on deposit earning interest, the subscriptions benefited to the extent of .£lO4 18s. 6d. Thin the total receipts to this fund were J2158 10s. 2d. The disbursements for ineidcnlol expenses amounted to' .£sl 19s. 4d„ leuvirifr a net balance of .82101 10s. lOd. to be devoted to the purpose for which the fund was raised, and the balance in hand baa now been paid to the Hospital Board as the work of erecting the Martin Memorial building is in progress, and when completed it is to be used as an X-ray and bacteriological department.
