Wairoa, February 3. Light rain is falling and breaking up the dry spell. A carter named T. Moran, a wellknown old. identity, met with an accident oil Saturday in the county supply yards. He was engaged in twisting chains on a load of timber when they swung back, striking Moran so severely that he was removed to the hospital in a serious condition,

The thieves evidently were disturbed, as they overlooked ,£OO in large notes in the till / The Borough Council has adopted Saturday as the half-holiday.
