WHEN PEACE IS SIGNED
THE DUTY OP ROMAN CATHOLICS. 'In a circular letter to his archdiocese, Archbishop O'Shea, (3.M., on the subject of the peaco celebrations, outlines the following programme:—"On the Sunday itself there should be a solemn votivo Mass of thanksgiving; on Moniday, a Requiem Mass for all our New Zealand soldiers who have died in the var; and on Tuesday, the Mass of the Holy Ghost, to ask God to guide our Government and rulers in the grca(; task of reconstruction after the war. Let the celebrations be everywhere as solemn as possible, and wherever it can be done these Masses should be sung. May God inspire the delegates at the Peace Conference with such sentiments that from their deliberations there may come a peace on the lines laid down by the Holy Father; and for all nations great and small that there may bejfin a now era of long-con-tinued tranquillity, happiness, and prosperity."
