i The fact that 1535 entries have been received by tho Wellington Competitions Society for. their forthcoming competitions augurs well for the success of the enterprise. The entries in the classes for olocution and recital with musical accompaniment nro particularly good, and keen competition in singing and dancing is expected. Other classes which have been well entered for are character and action-recitations, sacred solo. Shukespoarean recitations. Now Zealand test recitals, operatic solo, and humorous rocitation. Quite a fair number of entries has been received for Scots and Irish songs and Dickens oharacter sketch. Tho competitions cover, a wide range, and are expected to be productive of much good to the participants as well as entortainmont to the public, The competitions open in tho Town Hall on February. 13. Further particulars are to bo found in tho souvenir programme which has been issued. ,
