FOUND DEAD ON RAILWAY LINE

An inquest was opeued last night before the Coronev regarding the death of Ernest-Tyler, alias Jack Jones, who was found dead on the railway line on Saturday morning with three leather bags beside him containing 4S bottles of whisky. Deceased was a bushfeller, aged •U years. He was born in Tasmania, and was married/but it is not known Where his wife is. Deceased had been 18 years in tho Dominion, and vas defendant in a Court case last Court day, charged with bavin? liquor for sale, but tho case Tvas adjourned till Monday, February 3. He wont to Auckland on Thursday night, and returned on Friday night. He was seen near Ongarue leaving the carriage! with ono bag, and he failed to return. The police were on the look out for him at Tanmarunni. It is believed that he fell on the signal wires and rebounded against the train. The face was terribly smashed. It has been.thought for Borne time that whisky was being dropped from moving trains near Taumarunui. The inquest wa9 adjourned till Thursday. ■ A unique souvenir of the British Prime Minister was exhibited at an "Our Day" gathering at Altrincham recently, consisting ofthe original brass plate bearing the inscription, "D. Lloyd George, solicitor/' which had been removed from his Criccieth pffioe.
