SCHOOL DESTROYED BY FIRE

By Telegraph—Press Association. ' Hawera, January 31. The Hawera "Star's" Opunake correspondent reports that the public school there was burnt to the ground at 1 o'clock this morning. When discovered, the building was well alight, and there was no possibility of saving it. The school was about forty years old, and had been used as a temporary hospital during the epidemic, but as it had been unoccupied for about three' weeks the fire appears to bt an incendiary one. A. 6hed in which the school furniture and books are 6tored was not damaged.
