_ An ingenious contrivance for harvesting white clover was observed at work in a paddock of clover on Mr. H. Cook's ; nrm at Conrtenay last week (says' Hie Lyttelton Times.") An ordinary ir.ower was used, to which was attached a platform. On the back part of the platform was a riddle and under the riddle a box or tray. Aβ tho clover is cut it is pulled over the riddle and off tho platform. All the hoiuls which l:nve been cut short drop through the riddln and into the box. It is quite .-etomshing the number of times this box 'hns to bo emptied on tho way round a paddock. Tn Hie ordinary wny of cutting most of these heads would be lost. A very short ci'od of clovor, which could not bo cut with the ordinary elowr ciirter, could bo easily cut with this machine, nnd apparently without any waote. In concluding.'his address on tho. meat trade at a ineetiii? of the Fanners , Union in Masterton on Wodnesdny, Mr. J. C. Cooper euggested that the Farmers' Union flhould have pamphlets printed of the finding of nn English Commission in mBliect to tho operations of the meat trust Mr. G. E. Sykes, JT.P., stated that llio Agricultural Committee ofvthe House of Kepresentatives bad i rdered copies of thfl report to be printed, and these would shortly ho available to all farmers. Mr. Sykes said that the report contained startling information of the, ramifications of the meat trust. WADE'S WOIIM FIGS, Wonderful Worm Worriers. Price, is, Gd.—Advt.
