The "Daily Chronicle's" Rotterdam correspondent slates that the German, Government is dealing drastically with unemployment. Though agriculture is endangered by a shortage of half a million workers in the provinces, hundreds of thousands are idling in the towns. The Government is about to withdraw ttnancUil assistance from those refusing to work except for good reasons. Thieves in Berlin are most daring. They shut off whole streets to enable accomplices to plunder the ehops. In fine instance sailors, after lending a motor lorry with valuable booty, seized tw6 policemen who were attempting to fit , - rest them, and, handing them over to Government soldier.?, drove off with the booty.—Aue.-N.Z. (Rec.; January 29, I a.m.) Amsterdam, January 26. ' Dr. Liebknecht and thirty-three Sparta, cists were buried at Friedricbsfeldp cemetery. The city was filled with eoldiers.
