OVER .£98,000 RAISED. In our advertising columns appears a statement of the total collections in connection with the recent •WeiKngton-Auck-land copper trail contest. The publication of this return has been delayed owin» to some of the country districts being unable to complete their returns earlier, due principally to the. derangement of affairs by.the recont epidemic. All contributions which counted for cop- . per trail mileage are included, 60 that the return is a comprehensive one. The sum α-equired to lay the trail was ,£93,700,' ■but Wellington area has raised .608,423 135. 5d., all received since_,the date of commencement of the contest on .Tune i. Of this latter sum ,£6G,«O 2s. 10d. was remitted to the Copper Trail Trustees, £30,858 10s. kl. to the Wellington Centre of the.British Red Crass, and JC1122 7s. 10d. to the Internal Affair?. Department. The expenses were paid out of special donations for the purpose, and amount onlv to JCS4 12s. 7d., or a shade oven- one shilling per cent.
