RIFLE SHOOTING
THE SUBURBS CLUB The Suburbs Rifle Club opened the first 6hoot of the third series in anything but pleasant weather, a howling northerly prevailing through the afternoon, and was the' cause of many 'breakdowns in the scoring. The highest 6core, , with the aid of 3 poin's handicap, was made by Rifleman Gray, whose total was 91. The club has started teams' shoot- 1 ing amongst the club members, four men a-side. The idea is to bring along the younger shots and iniprove their shooting, a scratch man being in char*o of each team. The winning team on Saturday was Captain Boss's, with a total of 344 points, Deputy-President Smart's second with 330 points, and Rifleman Harris's third with" 322 points. SUBURBS "DAILY MAli" SHOOT. The Suburbs Club's -'Daily Mail" Cup shoot was fired on Anniversary Day under conditions that were easily the worst since the competition vas first fired. A glance at the scores will show that the elements had the best if the deal. The riflemen had a howling wind and misty ram to contend with; nevertheless, everyone made the best of it and went home thinking out their chances for next year's, shoot. The "Daily Mail" Cup was won this year by Rflmn. J. L. Turner, with a score of 168 points. Rflmn. H. Gawith was rnnner-irp with 167 points. The competition was shot over six ranges, from 200 to 800 yards. It was also divided into two aggregates. .The shortrange aggregate was won by Dep.-Pres. Boon, with a total of. 94, and the lon?range aggregate was won by H. Gawith. with a total (plus handicap) of 183 points.
