CITY COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
The City Council met last evening. Tho Mayor, Mr. J. P. Luke, presided, and Councillors present were: Messrs. W. H. P. Barber, G. Frost, J. Castle, W. J., Thompson, R. A. Wright, M. Luckie,. W. H. Hildreth, W. 11. Bennett,- C. B. Norwood, J. E. Fitzgerald. The Finance and Property Committer; recommended that officers be instructed to take the necessary steps to deal with tho wandering cattle nuisance in the Wadestown district. The committee had received resolutions from the Napier, Hastings, and Hawfira Borough Councils, dealing generally with tho administration of the Public Health Department during the influenza epidemic, and it recommended that ■ the council forward a reply that it intended to defer any action, in view of tho setting up of the Royal Commission on the epidemic.
The report of the Finance Committee was adopted.
Tho council derided to reply to the Melrose Ratepayers' and Electors' Association that when the council ■ was dealing with tho question of tramway extensions into tho ! outlying districts of the city, tho claims of Melrose would be considered. 1 . '
