' (Rec: January 24, 11.50 p.m.) ' "Melbourne, January 24. The authorities are taking all necessary precautions, and inoculation depots- have been established. Several fresh cases were reported to-day. 'There' are now fifty-nino in hospital. It is officially thought that the. disease is of tho local type, but'with increasing epidemic properties.—Press Assn. (Rec. January.24, 10.45 p.m.) Melbourne, January 24. - At a conference of the Commonwealth and State Ministers, Mr. W. A. Watt (Acting-Prime Minister) said that as far as information wont tho outbreak seemed to be epidemic, but not the epidemic. The chairman of the Board of' Health stated that, tests were incomplete, but there was reason to hope it was a. virulent form of local influenza, not caused by a foreign' germ.—Press Assn. THE .ISOLATION AGREEMENT FEDERAL AUTHORITIES ASKED ' TO ENFORCE IT. " (Rec. January 24, 10.45 p.m.) Sydney, January 24. While awaiting Federal action regarding the inHuenza outbreak-at Victoria, the New South Wales Govern-' mont has taken the precautionary step of.'placing medical patrols at the border stations of Albury. The Minister of Health (Hon, J. D. Fitzgerald) summed up tho position by stating:— "No doubt people . in Victoria , are dying v of a deadly disease. I'.'don't : care whether it is Spanish influenza or what it is, As long as it kills people we must take' the utpiost precautions." _ In view of this, Mr. W. A.
