PAPAROA MINE STRIKE
SETTLED AT LAST.. . -Mr. .T., Weston, of-"Welling. Ion,; reports that the strike at tils Paparoa coal mine at Greymoutli has been-fettled and . work at the mine is being recommenced this.-week. Sir. AYeston paid a personal .visit to tlio mine a few days ago, and addressed the. men, informing them that if-these difficulties continued at the mine there ■would be no recourse but to'closedown altogether. He ; reminded them that the a Paparoa Company was paying a. higher rate of''wages than,, any-other coal company in the country, and yet was suffering to a greater extent than any of. the others from strikes. As the result l of tlio talk and conference tho men decided to start' work' again, and on Saturday^.last the work, of preparing the mine : for liewi.ig 'operation was commenced.
