Mr. James Marchbanks, the Wellington Harbour Board's engineer, who was sent abroad to study the latest equipnicut and facilities provided in American and other harbours, is returning to New Zealand by the s.s. Paloona and is expected reach hero about February 12.

An old colonist, Mrs. E. 31. Coldicutt, died at Auckland on Tuesday. Born at Ely, Cambridge, England, on July 19, 1843, the deceased arrived in Auckland by the ship Creswell on September 13, 1853. She was educated at 'St. Mary's Convent, and in February, 1865, was married to the late Mr. J. Coldicutt. The deceased is survived by four sons.

The death of Mr. H. Noy at Auckland removes another old colonist. The latp Mr. Noy, who was 81 years of age, came to Neiv Zealand from Cornwall at the -age of 21 years, and, after spending about eight months at the Gabriel's Gully goldfields, joined his father in business in Auckland as general engineers. He later went to the West Coast, whero he was joined by his father, and they established an engineering business, which they carried on for 30 years.. The late Mr." Noy settled down in Dunedin a few years ago, and was on a visit to Auckland when ho passed away. He is survived by n grown-up family. Mr. B. N. Staff, late of the Scoullar Company,' Ltd., has taken over the management of a section of Messrs. B. L. Hart and Co.'s wholesale business. The Rev. H. C. Gaut, who recently arrived from England, is conducting the services at St. John's Presbyterian Church during tho absence of Dr. ■jGribbj,
