AMERICAN DESERTERS
SHOOT TWO POLICE OFFICERS. (Rec. January 21, 7.35 p.m.) .Paris, January 18. Policemen traced a motor-car which had been stolen by four American deserters. Three police inspectors attempted to arrest the deserters, who fired revolvers, shooting one inspector in the stomach and anojfcher through the head. Both.the injured men were sent to hospital in a dangerous condition. Ono of the Americans on being arrested was nearly lynched. The others were arrested later.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. .
